Contingency Attorneys in Chicago

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

By Kent Pinkerton Aside from Chicago, no city in the nation allows a contingency fee basis when it comes to personal injury claims and litigations. What is a contingency fee basis? A contingency fee basis is an option available to clients where they need not pay any money upfront. Payment is also not required if the personal injury claim or litigation turns out to be unmeritorious. Contingency attorneys bank on their arbitration, court skills and knowledge in order to win a claim or lawsuit. If they are inefficient as counsel, they will not receive payment from you. By agreeing to a contingency fee basis, attorneys cannot charge the client until they have settled his personal injury claim or litigation. Contingency attorneys in Chicago deduct their fees from the money recovered out of the personal injury claim or litigation. The initial consultation to the contingency attorneys in Chicago is also free. You do not pay ? perpetrators do. Simply stated, it means you pay only when you win your claim or cause. However, contingency fee basis is only binding upon the lawyer and the client. This means that other legal expenses such as the filing fee, service of process, adequate reports, copying and mailing, litigation costs and other expenses are to be paid by the client. Why do people opt for contingency attorneys in Chicago? There are various reasons why contingency planning and contingency attorneys are so numerous. Some choose such attorneys to avoid financial losses and to make sure that their needs are well cared for. In a nutshell, you can choose contingency planning in order to ensure a quality defense for a personal injury claim without paying incredibly high fees. Contingency planning also ensures that you have continuous and credible legal service while maintaining the expected regulatory demands. Why should clients settle for a high attorney?s fee billed by the hour when they can get it for less? Top 7 Non-Gym Exercises

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

By Kat Beechum I think the longest I ever had a gym membership was for 6 months, and that was only because I did the aerobics classes, I never actually did any weights! So, you dont like going to the gym, but you want to exercise, but what do you do? What can you do that will give you the same, consistent results you get from the gym? Great question and one I asked myself when I stopped going to the gym! Here is a list of the top 7 things you can do to exercise that doesnt involve putting on tight clothing and strutting your stuff in front of everyone else! Enroll in a dance class any sort of dancing will get the blood pumping and your heart racing. Plus, you get to meet new people! This is my top exercise choice, I dance competitively as well, so on top of social dancing, and I also train 3-4 times a week. It is a great way to keep fit and lots of fun. Check your local newspaper for upcoming classes. Walking this one is often overlooked. You pretty much walk somewhere everyday, why not make a more concerted effort and get your arms pumping. I try to walk at least twice a week in between my dancing just so I can get outside and enjoy the sun! If you can walk at least 4-5kms 3-4 times a week, you will feel much better for it, and best of all, its free! You can wear whatever clothing you like, take your ipod with you or walk with a friend, either way, walking is right up there on my list!Mow the lawn this is not my favorite exercise to do, but I know that there are lots of people that get a great sense of satisfaction from mowing the lawns and what you may not know is that when you are pushing the lawn mower, you are giving your biceps and triceps a great work out, plus all the walking you do burns up those calories. Obviously, if you have a ride-on mower, you are defeating the purpose, but if you use a hand held mower, you are well on your way to improving your muscles and cardio fitness.Shovel snow great one for cardio and for your biceps and triceps and also a great way to keep warm! Look at these figures: Loading a shovel with 16 pounds of snow, 12 times per minute, converts to lifting almost 2,000 pounds in a 10 minute period. Do you think that you might just feel the burn doing this?! Most definitely! It is also a great workout for your back, buttocks and thighs. But be warned, this is not a job for the faint hearted. You will need to make sure that you have fuelled up plenty before tackling this job! Play with your dog this is great exercise. Aside from taking the dog for a walk, you can run around your backyard chasing the dog, the dog will take a long time to tire, so a fantastic workout and some good quality time spent with your favorite pet! You could also take your dog down to the local park for some games of fetch or take the dog hiking there are so many things you can do with your dog and not only will you be increasing your fitness, but you will also be keeping your dog fit and healthy, ensuring he/she lives a long time! Pilates there are some fantastic videos and DVDs on Pilates and I would recommend Marie Windsors videos, they are fantastic. Pilates is excellent if you have any condition that stops you from doing cardio exercises as the majority of Pilates is completed lying on your back! Using your powerhouse you build up your resistance and use your muscles to move parts of your body in a series of moves. You can do this for just 20 minutes a day 4-5 times a week and notice some fantastic results within 2-3 weeks. I do this twice a week just to keep my tummy muscles nice and strong, which I need for my dancing also. Use an exercise ball this is great, especially if you sit at a computer all day. Try replacing your normal chair with the exercise ball and you will find that by the end of the day, your muscles will be aching from keeping yourself balanced on the ball while working! What a great way to multi-task! Aside from this, you can use the exercise ball at home and do various exercises like sit ups, push ups and squats to name a few. These are also pretty cheap and most come with an instructional video for use at home. So, there you have it, my top 7 non-gym exercises that you can do. The majority of which are free! So, no more excuses. There are so many more things you can do, but these are the ones that I find I consistently stick with and see results from. Possibly another one that could be put in with walking is running but that is pretty hard on your knees and I prefer to preserve my body then injure it, but if you want to see fast results, running is definitely right up there, just make sure you invest in some very good shoes! Happy exercising! Kat Beechum is a passionate writer who writes about her hobbies and interests. Mid-Summer Checkup: Heat-Related Health Problems

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

By Kitty Bradshaw Its the middle of summer, a time Oriental medicine describes as the Fire season. The heart is your bodys primary focus during summer; its the internal organ where the heat of Fire concentrates. In addition to heat-related problems that can directly affect the heart during summer, you have other internal organs that are also heat sensitive, like the liver, which has a tendency to become overheated during this time of year, making you more vulnerable to feeling irritated. Water Cools Fire: Summer’s Impact on Your Kidneys and BladderIf your liver has a tendency to get unbalanced, it can release quite a bit of heat during the summer, which in turn causes all sorts of heat-related problems, like high blood pressure, rashes and hives. In nature, when fire becomes excessive it also becomes dangerous, and water is needed to control it, its the same way with your body in summer. Considering this, as your body draws on its water resources to cool itself down, your Water element organs, which are the kidneys and the urinary bladder, tend to get overworked, and if they are weak or unbalanced to begin with, you can experience discomforts, and potentially a crisis, related to those organs. The ‘Water’ energy of kidneys cools down other organs that get overheated in summer. Maintaining Your Engine Avoids ProblemsIts a lot like the radiator in a car, the water in the radiator provides the cooling mechanism for the engine, which keeps the whole thing from overheating. When the water is low, or the radiator runs dry, which is equivalent to the kidneys being weak and unbalanced, the engine is at risk; so too your body is at some risk when your kidneys are taxed by heat during the summer. This is an Oriental medicine example of why many people experience problems like high blood pressure in the summer. Summer Health TipsIt’s important to drink enough water and eat the right foods to ensure you’re meeting your body’s summertime needs.Drink more water. Because it’s hot and you perspire a lot during the summer, the average amount of water you should drink in a 24-hour period is 48 ounces this includes all fluids, such as, juice, soda, and other beverages. (Note: 48 ounces is the equivalent of 6 eight ounce glasses.) When you are sweating more than usual as on some days in the summer drinking more is advisable. It’s important to pay attention to how you feel, and drink more when you’re thirsty. Monitor your intake of salt. An imbalance of salt in your body too much, or too little can readily occur when temperatures are hot. You will know you’re getting too much salt if you find that rings you wear get tighter, and socks or shoes that fit you comfortably during cooler weather, leave lines or wrinkles on your feet or ankles because of too much fluid in those areas. Eat cooling foods. Cucumbers, mung beans, and watermelon are particularly good foods to eat in the summer. They help to keep your body cool, and because of their diuretic properties, they also help to offset excess salt intake. Do You Know How Trampolines Were Invented?

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

By Paul Article Back in 1930, a young boy went to the circus with hisfamily. He was enthralled by the aerial acts, but morethan their in-air stunts, he was fascinated by the way theydropped into the safety net after the act was over, finishing off with flourishes as they bounced back into theair. That memory never left George Nissen of Iowa, who went onto tumbling and diving exploits while in high school. Thesports gave him the same opportunity for artistic touchesand freedom of movement, although they ended either on ahard floor, or in the water. Still, when Nissen graduated at the age of 16, he took sometime off before university, to start tinkering in hisgarage with the idea that had been simmering in his mindsince that visit to the circus- a bouncing “table”, thatwould put him back up into the air. With the help of friends to weld the frame, and stretchtent grade canvas on it, he soon had his first “bouncingrig”. Nissen then went off to college, but continued totoy with the size and other aspects of design, eventuallytaking one to summer camp where he worked. The rig was aninstant hit with the kids who would rather play on it, thantake a break from the sweltering heat by going swimming. Nissen refined his athletic skills at university, and afterhe earned a degree, he and two other gymnasts formed theThree Leonardos, a tumbling and balancing act that didsmall town tours. While in Mexico, they swam at the Ywhere they learned that the diving board was called “eltrampolin”. Nissen anglicized the word to trampoline andpatented it for his new invention. While their performances did result in orders, by the timeWWII broke out, Nissen had bought his partners shares inthe company. Then he went on to promote the device himself, selling around 100 to military sources for training pilotsand parachutists. Drumming up business in the post-war years was hard work, but as before, performance was the key, and publicitydidn’t hurt. A chance photograph that Nissen had taken ofhimself and a kangaroo in mid-jump on the same trampoline, became as famous around the world, as his invention wouldbecome in the next few years.
