Applying for a Small Business Loan: How Questions Can Help Get What You Want

Monday, December 31st, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Robert_Warlow]Robert Warlow If you are approaching your Bank for finance at some stage you are likely to have a face-to-face interview. In these situations its all too easy to let the Manager dominate the interview with all his questions. You should join in as well! After all, the purpose of the meeting is not only for him to assess whether you are the type of person the Bank can lend to but its also for you to assess him. This is why in advance you have to prepare some questions to fire at him. There are a number of good reasons why you should ask questions during the interview. Asking questions shows you can think for yourself and that you are confident enough to challenge something you don’t understand Questioning demonstrates that you have an enquiring mind and having that is important in business Asking questions is an excellent way of checking the listener’s understanding of what you’ve told them; it gives you the chance to put right any misunderstandings or misconceptions they may have Asking questions is also a good way of building rapport with your Bank Manager Don’t forget that this is going to be your chance to decide whether you want to do business with this person. Having a Bank Manager whom you can get on with as an individual is good for the business. You need someone whom you can ring up and feel comfortable with, someone who comes across as being interested in your business You should have questions about the cost of the loan; how long it will take to set up, the rate of interest, the fees and a host of other things. You need to sort these out early on in the relationship, before it’s too late Questions can be used as another method of positively manipulating the Manager. One technique to use in your questioning is to build an assumption into the question. For example ask the following questions: o “How long would it take before my loan is available?” o “Would I be able to pay lump sums off my loan without any penalty?” o “What interest rate are you going to charge me?” You can see that in these questions there is an in-built assumption that the loan will be agreed! A bit presumptuous and bold but on the other hand it again demonstrates confidence in your ability to succeed. You can’t rely on your quickness of mind to come up with all the relevant questions on the spot, so you need to take time before hand to come up with all the questions you want to ask. Get a pen and paper and put down all the questions you can think of and then review them and remove the ones you dont want. In addition to the questions already shown above, here are some non assumptive questions you can and should ask: What do you know about the industry we are in? Do you have the ability to make decisions on requests to borrow money, or are you answerable to someone else? Will you be available to talk to you if we have any problems, or will we end up in a Call Centre? How long are you going to be here in this job before you move on? The answers to these questions will provide you with more information on the person who is going to be looking after your interests. In so doing by the end of the interview you will be able to assess whether you can do business with him just as much as he can assess if hes comfortable with you. If you don’t prepare your questions in advance then forgetting about key issues becomes more likely. Not only will you have wasted your time but also that of the Bank’s; not a position you want to be in if you want to impress your Manager! Beautify Your Stamped Cards with Creative Coloring

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By Melanie Brown Stamping is one of the most versatile crafts around because there are so many different options that you can use to enhance even the most basic stamp. When you look at some colored stamped images, you may be overwhelmed by how beautiful they are. Some look like works of art that have been meticulously painted by tiny little brushes. For a beginner, or even intermediate stamper, they make look overwhelming. The truth is however, that coloring stamped images does not have to be difficult, and it does not require any special artistic skill. Chances are if you are already involved with stamping, you have enough creativity to color in your stamped images beautifully. There are a number of different tools that you can use to color, and the most popular ones for stampers are pastels, or chalks, watercolor pencils, markers or ink pads. Chalks Chalks are a great way to color in stamped images because they are inexpensive and versatile. You do not have to spend too much money to get a full set of chalks that you can use for a very long time. Most chalk sets will come with an applicator or two. These applicators look similar to eye shadow brushes. Other tools that work well to apply chalks are cotton swabs or cotton balls, small sponge brushes, or clean eye make up brushes. It is always a good idea to practice on a scrap piece of cardstock before you apply the color to your image. Practice blending shades of chalk together to achieve the desired result. Press very lightly for a softer look, and a little bit harder for a strong, sharper color. Shade with the applicator for effect, or hi light certain areas of your image. You can mix chalk colors directly on the cards stock or image, or you can mix the colors on the applicator before applying to your product, whichever you prefer. Watercolors Watercolor pencil crayons are one of the most versatile coloring tools that you can find because there are so many different techniques that you can create with them. If you want a strong colored image, apply the pencil crayons directly to the image just as you would with regular coloring crayons. However, if you want water colored look, you can use a blender pen to create that effect. Simply color along the edge of the image with the pencil, and use the blender pen to “pull” the color into the desired area. Another way to apply color is by rubbing your pencil crayon on a piece of scrap and “dipping” the blender pen into the color before applying. This will create a softer effect. Another way to watercolor is by using your ink pad. With the lid shut, push in the middle of the pad to create a pool of ink on the lid. Then you simply dip your blender pen into the ink and paint into the image. By doing this, you can create a stronger coloring effect. Markers Markers are also a popular choice for coloring in stamps because of how easy they are to use. Simply color in the stamped image. If you have watercolor markers you may be able to use a blender pen to mix the colors, or create a softer look. Whatever color method you choose, it is generally a good idea to use a spray fixative to secure the colors. Do not use hairspray for this job because over time it will yellow the images and the paper. Melanie Brown is an avid card maker and Stampin Up demonstrator. Fast Cash Payday Loans

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Tim_Gorman]Tim Gorman If you need cash now there are several options available to you. The first is your debit card, assuming you are in good standing at your bank. Just head to the ATM and faster than you can say “I need cash now”, you’ll be good to go. Another way to get dollars in hand if you need cash now is by deliberately overpaying for gas or groceries and telling the clerk you need cash now. They will give you the balance. A third way to get money if you need cash now is through your credit card company or checkbook. Some credit card companies lure you to their brand, knowing you need cash now, by offering cash advances. When you need cash now, you simply use the credit card as a debit card. You’ll be given a pin number (password) upon sign up. Then when you need cash now you’ll be able to borrow against your credit card. Other tricks credit card companies utilize in order to keep your business are checks in the mail that you can cash when you need cash now. Since everybody seems to need cash now, they know if they send you a check you’ll likely cash it without thinking about paying it off with interest later. The next time you need cash now, think twice before using one of the above mentioned methods until you recognize exactly what it is you’ll have to pay later. Sometimes when you need cash now you’re unlikely to picture the consequences all the way through. All you know is you need cash now, not later. If you or a loved one need cash now, pool your resources and go to the bank rather than relying on an unknown third party. When you need cash now it’s hard to do business with a level head, and lending companies know this. You Can Be Losing Weight Through A Healthy Eating Program

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

By Douglas Taylor Like many people today there are many who have tried every food fad, weight loss program and diet that is out there. Yet although they lose the weight initially after some time they find that they have regained it. Unfortunately many people are beginning to realize that using healthy eating weight loss programs do not work on their own and you need to actually do some form of exercise as well. However if you do decide to look for a healthy eating weight loss program the best thing you can do before making a final decision on which one to use is to talk to your doctor first. Even if you do find it difficult to discuss your weight problem with your doctor it is important to remember that they are there to help you and to ensure that you live the happiest, longest and healthiest life possible. Also what is important to remember is that these types of programs are not a quick fix solution to your weight problem and will need to stick with it in order that you can lose the weight and then keep it off. However the most successful types of healthy eating weight loss programs should combine the following: - 1. Healthy Eating - They should ensure that you are get sufficient amounts of protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and other essential products in order that your body remains in top condition even whilst you are trying to lose the weight. 2. Nutrition should be balanced - These programs should ensure that the nutritional value of any healthy eating weight loss program will not cause any problems to your body and yet still allows you to lose the excess weight. 3. Regular Exercise - This is an extremely vital part of any healthy eating weight loss program as without exercise you will find that you lose some weight but after a while you may find that you regain it. In many cases combining a healthy eating weight loss program with exercise will help you not only to lose the weight but also help to keep it off, plus you will find that you are much better to cope with the stresses and strains of everyday life. A great way of ensuring that you are sticking to any healthy eating weight loss programs that you decide to use is by changing your favorite dishes to low calorie versions. This is pretty simple to do and if you were to carry out a search of the Internet there are plenty of sites that are offering low calorie version recipes of some if not all of your favorite dishes. 14 Creative Valentine’s Day Ideas

Friday, December 28th, 2007

By Jennifer L. Hunt Are you ready for Valentine’s Day? While we feel that you should treat every day in your relationship like Valentine’s Day, we do want to help you make this special day incredibly romantic and memorable for both you and your sweetheart. As we get closer to Valentine’s Day, we’ll continue to update our blog with any cool resources or ideas that we find. Here’s a great article from Michael Webb at TheRomantic.com with some really creative ways to say “I Love You” this year. “14 Creative Valentine’s Ideas” By Michael Webb, Founder www.TheRomantic.com/ Here are 14 Creative (yet inexpensive) ways to say “I Love You” this February. Do your friends a favor and forward this message to them. Sleep under the stars Buy some glow in the dark stars from the toy department and arrange a special message above your bed. Their very own coloring book Draw a dozen or so silly pictures of memorable experiences. (browse through photo albums for ideas). Outline in black marker and then have the pages copied and bound on heavy paper at a copy shop. Give with a pack of crayons. Computer romance Change the screen saver on the computer to a scrolling message. For added effect, use a wingding or character font that can’t be read without decoding. Got milk? Hide a bunch of silly prizes and a card in your love’s favorite cereal. Jump start the romance Tie your card or gift on a three foot string and tie it to the bottom of an automatic garage door. When your honey comes home, the gift will magically arise to greet them. Rubber ducky races Go to a nearby river or stream and race rubber ducks. The loser takes the winner out for dessert. Warm the heart While your love is in the shower put their towel in the dryer for a few minutes so it will be toasty warm when he or she steps out. Music to their ears In your own voice, record a book, fairy tale or poetry on tape for your dearest to listen to on the way to work or while he or she is out of town. A winter picnic Move the living room furniture and have a picnic in the middle of the floor complete with blanket, picnic basket, and all the fixings (in front of a roaring fireplace would add to the effect). Send a mail bomb Sending a card can be exploding romantic just by adding something unexpected: a feather, leaf, matches, lock of your hair, pressed flower or your handkerchief scented with perfume/cologne. The personal touch Gently scratch his back for ten minutes while he falls asleep or brush her hair for the same amount of time. Mirror, mirror on the wall Use Rain-X Anti Fog (used to keep car windows from fogging up) and a cotton swab to write a message that will mysteriously appear on the bathroom mirror while your sweetheart is showering. Or put that old tube of lipstick to good use with a good morning greeting on the mirror. The Jelly Belly game Blindfold him and feed him Jelly Bellies. If he guesses the flavor correctly, he gets a prize. If he guesses wrong, you get a prize. To make it more interesting, combine flavors (root beer + ice cream = root beer float, coconut + pineapple = pina colada, chocolate + cherry = chocolate covered cherries, etc.). Welcome home! Use chalk to write a welcome home greeting on the sidewalk. Make sure to check out our other terrific Valentine’s Day resources at AskDanAndJennifer.com Wait. How the Qlink Can Help You

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

By Lyle Robertson In our every day lives we are being affected by forces that we cannot see and these forces are wearing down our health, both mental and physical, on a daily basis. These forces originate from EMFs, Electromagnetic Fields, which are present everywhere, but is concentrated in certain areas, like near power lines. In the home the EMFs are concentrated around power outlets. The Q-link was created by group of professionals who combined their research to produce a device that would help people to resist the effects of the EMFs. The Qlink is intended to help to build up your bio-field, the field that permeates and extends out of our bodies, and help you to combat the effects of radiation on your health. The Q-link is also intended to help those that live or work within a highly irradiated environment to continue to function at a peak levels. The Qlink is an attractive, stylish pendant that can be worn any time and should be worn as often as possible to ensure that you receive the greatest benefits from it. This pendant will look good while providing you with a multitude of benefits. That something that looks so good can help you so much seems almost too much to believe, but the Q-link does just that. It is worn by many celebrities and many top performing athletes. The athletes attest to the fact that the Qlink helps them to perform better than when they are not wearing it and even if you are not a top level athlete this pendant can help you in many ways. The Q-link has 3 chief functions and through the performing of these functions you will be the recipient of many health benefits, both mental and physical. The chief functions are strengthening you capacity to function within an EMF inundated atmosphere, the bolstering of your resistance and resilience to the effects of stress encountered in the course of daily life and the third function is the increasing of your energy and the enhancing of your mental performance especially in times where you are submitted to large amounts of stress and tension to help you cope with the addition pressure. The Qlink provides you with a myriad of benefits, including protection from the EMF radiation that is so prevalent these days, the enhancement of mental alertness and lucidity, the aid in balancing your emotion to help achieve the mental alertness and lucidity, helping you to achieve deep and refreshing sleep on a regular basis, as well as an improvement in athletic performance. The more you wear your Q-link, the more emphatic the benefits will be that you receive. Your Qlink should be worn as often as possible, including while you sleep at night. If you wear it at all time then you will be helping to enforce your bio-field in a major and this will help to combat the lethargy, ailments and weariness that you feel when your bio-field has deteriorated. How Important is Recruiting Software in Determining the Success of an Executive Search Firm

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

By Kenneth Peck Not Very! You might find that answer surprising, considering I am the president of a recruiting software company. We have been producing recruiting software for 25 years. I have also spent 25 years as a recruiter in the very competitive Los Angeles market. I talk to a lot of recruiters every day who are trying to decide on recruiting software. There is a variety of recruiting software products out there and it seems as if a new one pops every other day. The ERE has a running Discussion group, Finding The Right Recruiting Software, where recruiters can ask questions and get advice from each others regarding recruiting software. I get emailed discussions daily from this group and almost every time someone mentions software that I have never heard of. I get the feeling that many of these recruiters I talk to every day are on the wrong track. They are looking for the secret potion that will turn either themselves or their firm into a super star of the recruiting industry with the slickest resume database and applicant tracking features around. I maintain that if you take a good recruiter or recruiting firm and make them use bad recruiting software, they are still going to be successful. Conversely if you take a bad recruiting firm and make them use good recruiting software they are still going to be a bad recruiter or recruiting firm. When I was still recruiting during the day and writing software at night I worked elbow to elbow with fellow recruiters. I used to criticize the recruiter who was always fussing with the computer and their files. Do you know why? Im guessing you think it is because I am so arrogant that I did not want to listen to anyone elses ideas. You are wrong, although I do like my own ideas! The real reason, however, was that I knew this recruiter was never going to be successful and we would lose money. Time after time, year after year for 15 years, I found that the recruiters who focused on the recruiting tool and gimmicks rather than execution failed. Someone once told me that Vince Lombardi, a very successful football coach, had only about 6 plays. The success was all in the execution! The recruiter who focuses on the execution of the client and applicant call and is always thinking of ways to improve the call is going to be successful. How you identify this type of recruiter is the subject for another article. So, why have I spent half of my life writing recruiting software and trying to make it better? Because I love my work and the creativity of it and I know I can give a really good recruiter an edge. I know the recruiting firm will be successful with or without me but I can make a difference. I truly enjoy working with successful people and the rewards and appreciation mean so much more to me. What makes good recruiting software? This depends on the recruiter or recruiting firm and their business model. There are a number of good recruiting software packages but fundamentally the software must be extremely easy to use, it has to focus on the execution of the client or applicant call and it has to gather information through, what I like to call, the natural process of recruiting. If the software gathers information naturally and easily it will feed into the critical element of recruiting, marketing!Recruiting software must compliment or follow the natural process of recruiting. Notice I did not say the software must be intuitive! You might ask what exactly is natural? If your applicant tracking, staffing or resume database software requires you to perform tasks that you would not ordinarily do then you must question the recruiting software. Now, I have to admit that everything you do as a recruiter might not be considered natural. Natural or not, the recruiting process can be simplified into a few basic steps. 1. Get a job order by calling clients and recording the calls for future marketing and follow up. 2. Research a database or databases for applicants or referral sources that would be a good fit for the job order. 3. Call identified applicants and record calls. 4. Determine the applicant(s) to present and present the applicant(s) to the client. 5. Track the interview process to the point of hire and the applicant starting to work for the client. That’s right, only 5 steps! This is what is so alluring to people thinking about recruiting as a career. But any experienced recruiter will tell you that each of these steps demands a fantastic amount of skill, resources and marketing to be successful. The job of executive search software is to make sure that each of these 5 steps can be performed without any wasted motion. Note that my emphasis is on saving recruiters time and is not on features. I cannot begin to count the features I have reviewed and discarded. They looked like a good idea at the time but simply could not stand up to the daily grind of a recruiter. I have always said that I could take six seniors majoring in IT from any university and come up with a recruiting system in about 6 months. It would then take me about ten years to make it really work for a recruiter. I think everyone would agree that there are many ways to perform the 5 steps. But I like to think of them performed in an ultimately natural process. We only give in grudgingly to the limitations of computer code making the recruiter do something besides talking to a qualified applicant or client. So what would be the ultimate? Have the recruiter sit next to a phone and be told or shown who to call and be informed of the full nature and objective of the call. Have all the information available that might be needed for the call without doing anything but talking. Then when this call is finished all the follow up information regarding this call is recorded without any effort by the recruiter. Then the recruiter talks to the next client or applicant. This is the ultimate goal of any applicant tracking, staffing, recruiting software or whatever else you want to call it. This is what I like to call the natural process of recruiting. To me anything else takes away from the effectiveness of the recruiter. For example, if using a resume database or any recruitment tool causes the recruiter to stop at the end of the day to ‘feed’ the database just to keep the rest of the executive recruiters, management and himself/herself informed then the recruiting system is not natural. The recruiter had to perform a task not related to talking to an applicant or client. The recruiter had to run back behind the lines, count noses, inform and organize for the next assault because the army was in disarray. What if the recruiter miscounts? Notice I have not said a thing about features, even though I have spent half of my life writing them and continue to write them with all the excitement I had 20 years ago. A feature is only valuable if it suits the way a recruiter or recruiting firm works. Also, be careful that you do not get so dazzled with a feature that it takes you off of your successful game. The feature must be an enhancement to what is working for you right now. This is very hard to see and really can only be determined by using the product. Be careful of demos as they can be very misleading. A long trial period is best. If the recruiting product fits your natural style and it is a proven product with a good track record then you are almost home. Almost? Yes, if the product does not allow you to focus on using the database of information gathered for a powerful and deliberate marketing program then keep looking. Marketing is everything in recruiting! When Gardening, What are the Right Tools that Anybody Will Need

Monday, December 24th, 2007

By Allison Thompson For different kinds of gardens you will need different kinds of tools. Most hardware and DIY stores now have a wide range of tools available in stock, but if you want there are shops that specialize in the more expensive ranges that shout quality to you. But wherever you decide to purchase your tools from here a few points to help you make an informed decision. Firstly you need to look at the size of your garden, is it small or is it large? A small garden does not require the same large equipment that would be used in a bigger one. Why bother purchasing a ride-on lawn mower if you only have a small lawn. Also you need to look at who in your household does most of the gardening. If you say it is your wife that spends a vast amount of time gardening then you need to look for tools that will suit her, there are some out there that are too heavy for women to use. You are looking to purchase a pair of secateurs and you should always ensure that the blade is kept sharp to avoid causing undue damage to your plants. If you can look for a pair where the blades can either be sharpened or they can be replaced, as well as a pair that have a tension control system and a pair that best fits your hand size. Normally a good quality pair of secateurs can cost from around $50 to 130. If you have a hedge or considering growing one (to provide that all important privacy that you crave) then you need to look at purchasing a good quality hedge trimmer or a good quality pair of shears. You may find that some hedge trimmers have a curved blade which stops branches from sliding out when cut, and as with secateurs the shears you decide to purchase need to be suitable for the blades to be sharpened or replaced. Essential items you should have in your gardening tool kit are a fork, shovel, rake, chipping hoe and a pruning saw (not essential unless you have trees or large shrubs in your garden). When selecting a fork remember that it has to be strong enough to carry out the work required of it such as turning and aerating compost as well as breaking up lumps in the soil. So rather than opted for the cheaper versions which you will find are not strong enough to work in heavy soil, you should look at one that is sturdy. The average cost of a fork starts at about $30 and goes up to about $100. When looking to purchase a shovel it should have a scoop blade and is mainly used for moving dirt and garden soil around. However, a flat bladed spade is ideal for cutting edges, digging and dividing plants. All edges of spades should be kept sharpened for clean and efficient cutting as this will cause little or no damage to your plants. A fork is really a gardening necessity and can cost from say $30 up to as much as $50. Another tool that is part of the essential ones to have when gardening is a rake. There are two types of rakes that are available, the strong flat head rake that has sharp metal prongs is ideal for smooth out a garden bed and removing any bumps and weeds that still remain, whilst the plastic version is specifically designed for gathering and clearing leaves and grass clippings. The chipping hoe is a handy tool to have as it helps get rid of all those small weeds that are dotted around the garden. However if you want to avoid causing undue damage to your neck and shoulders whilst gardening with a hoe it might be well worth considering purchasing either a Dutch or push-hoe instead. Now we come to the pruning saw which as I said previously is only really necessary if you have either trees or large shrubs in your garden. This should be used in place of secateurs as they are only really designed for dealing with delicate plants such as rose bushes etc. A good quality pruning saw will have a narrow curved blade that can easily fit between the stems and branches of the tree or shrub and cuts them as you pull the saw back towards you. You will usually find that a good quality pruning saw costs from as little as $27 and can cost as much as $55. Although gardening tools do not have to be expensive you may find that you can pick up good quality tools at either flea markets or garage sales at a bargain price. Allison Thompson who has become a work at home mum now lives in Spain and is the partner in a small real estate firm. She has set up a number of sites relating to the property field and include a site on gardening. Business Loan Brokers

Saturday, December 22nd, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Steve_Valentino]Steve Valentino If you are looking for a business loan but have already overextended your credit limit, then business loan brokers could save the day for you. They are experts in getting business loans. In exchange for their services they charge a fee that depends on the amount of the loan and the financial position of the debtor. The poorer the financial position of a debtor, or the higher the amount of business loan required, the greater the commission will be. But beware: there are a lot of phony firms that lure hard-pressed businessmen for such loans. They would ask for some insurance fees and assure you that that even if your credit rating has nose-dived, a business loan could be arranged. Then, after you have paid the fee, they could vanish. To ensure that you are not duped, do not pay any fee until you receive the loan. The contract you sign with the business loan broker should mention clearly the terms and mode of payment. The contract should also have the name, address and contact numbers of the broker, the amount of the money you are going to borrow, and the name and address of the potential lenders. With an increasing focus on refinancing, and cutthroat competition in the banking sector among most of the major players, the number of business loan brokers has witnessed a meteoric rise over the last few years. There are many brokers or brokerage firms who deal exclusively in business loans; scores of others deal with both business and consumer loans. The list of business loan brokers is available online. But before doling out your personal financial information to on online or offline business loan broker, better to ensure that the individual or the firms is not fraudulent, and the information will not be misused. By Robert Southwell It is human nature to minimize costs and maximize benefits. To the sound of free money, millions, each year, compete for stipends made available by the federal government, private organizations, and by state governments. These stipends, known as grants, provide a free alternative to loans. Grants are most commonly associated with college applicants whom, dreadful of incurring massive debt, resort to grants to finance their way through college, but grants can also be attained in order to start up businesses as well as support other private endeavors. Surprisingly, however, grants are the path less traveled by the majority of aspirants. Speaking from my own experience as a recent college graduate, you DO NOT want to miss out on the opportunities that are being made available everyday for you to grab a slice of the pie. This article is designed to inform you of those opportunities and to shed some light on the proper means to go about attaining the Benjamin Franklins you need to escape an all-too-common pandemic nowadays that is, the grim specter of debt. When to apply for Grants? IMPORTANT: Apply for grants early and often! I cannot emphasize this enough. Do not wait to jump on the bandwagon. Be the first one on. Every dollar that goes around is one less dollar that will be available to you. When a grant or fellowship is introduced you want to be one of the first to apply for it. The review board (i.e. those who review grant applications) will give an edge to those who appear to be the most motivated. Secondly, grants are quickly being devalued as the cost of education skyrockets and business startup costs continue to escalate under the umbrella of big business. In addition, it is unlikely that grants will be in as much supply in the near future due to the burgeoning national debtwhich approaches 8 trillion dollars according to the department of treasury. Consequently, this means the federal government will probably cut their spending on a lot of social programs. Recent federal spending patterns and the volatile situation overseas suggests the majority of federal spending will be directed towards Defense. In the meantime, it is speculative but highly likely that the level of federal grants will decline sometime in the near future. If the competition is fierce now, think of what it will be if the federal government does follow through with expenditure cutbacks on its grant programs. The federal government may also reconsider the tax exempt status they give to private foundations who distribute 5% of their total assets every year. So to reiterate, if you are interesting in getting a grant, now is the time to apply! Do not wait for later. How to apply for grants? Surprisingly, a feeling of malaise often settles on those who are considering applying for a grant. They often dont know the right way to go about applying and end up surfing the web blindly for grants that suit their needs and subsequently apply for grants they stand little chance of attaining. They often convince themselves they stand no chance of getting a grant and cease applying. This mindset is fallacious. Do not be discouraged. The reason applicants lose out on grant money is because they choose their grants poorly, their application is banal and lackluster, or their searches end in dead ends. Here are some tips you can follow when applying for a grant: Find the grant program that is right for you! There are literally zillions of programs out there, a lot of which tend to be highly competitive and/or do not suit your specific needs. Some programs are specialized, targeting specific demographics. Those programs are real bread winners if you happen to fall into the particular demographic the program targets. Be sure to follow up on those opportunities. Search for less competitive grant programs (most likely private foundations and/or state programs). Make yourself stand out from the crowd. Lets face it. The review board has to read dozens and dozens of application. By the time they reach yours they may be tired or cranky after reading the same ol stuff. Be innovative and make yourself unique in some way from the rest of the applicants. Apply Early and Often! Find a good resource that will give you writing tips. Nobody likes a bad writer. Have a family member or friend proofread your application Find a reliable, consolidated resource that will be able to point you in the right direction and provide helpful hints and suggestions when needed.
