Whose Land?

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By Maureen Metcalf It is interesting that everyone is so hung-up on the debate regarding who has official rights to The Land known historically as The Land of Canaan. If we go back far enough, we discover the near Middle East was settled by descendants of Canaan, thus the region was referred to as “The Land of Canaan.” Abraham was not of the line of Canaan. How was it then, that Abraham was given the Everlasting Covenant of the Land? Who was Abraham? Was he an Arab, or was he a Jew? Actually, neither! Abraham arose from the ethnic background of the Chaldeans, arising out of ancient Sumer, descendants of Shem. The Arab nations arose through the lines of: Abraham’s nephew Lot, Abraham’s son Ishmael, and through Esau the twin brother of Jacob. The Jews descended from Abraham, through the line of his promised son, Isaac, who fathered Jacob. In other words, both the Jews and the Arabs are able to trace their ethnic roots through Abraham back to the Shemite Chaldeans, the descendants of Shem. Abraham, who brought along his nephew Lot, entered the Land of Canaan, in obedience to the L_RD who brought them out of Ur of the Chaldees, to the Land of Promise. However, Abraham did not claim this Covenant Land during his own lifetime. Both Lot and Abraham sojourned as foreigners among the Canaanites. The same was true for Isaac and Ishmael, neither of whom lay direct claim to Canaan during their lifetimes. In fact, neither did Esau or Jacob lay claim the Land in its entirety. All sojourned as strangers in The Land. It was not until forty years following the Exodus from Egypt, that under the leadership of Joshua, the Covenant Land was initially conquered and settled by the descendants of Jacob. Up to that juncture, the Canaanite tribes occupied Canaan, and the L_RD told them to drive out all the inhabitants of the Land. The Philistines were not direct descendants of either Abraham or Lot, nor of Ishmael or Esau, but were from the tribes surrounding the Mediterranean. They were therefore not Shemite. In fact, the Philistines were from Caphtor, an Island in the Mediterranean, so were more closely related to the Phoenicians and Minoans, and had connections with those who settled Tyre and Zidon - the Lebanon link. The Philistines occupied much of the Gaza region of the Land, and at the time of the conquering of the Land by the Children of Israel, were never completely driven out, even under King David, although he managed to encorporate Gaza as part of the region called Judah. This failure to drive the Philistines totally out of the Land was in violation of the Word of the L_RD to Israel. Therefore, the L_RD had to deal with the Philistines Himself. Jeremiah 47:4. Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remaineth: for the LORD will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor. This Scripture is a prophecy, and therefore will yet again come to fruition in dealing with the Palestinians. But, are the Palestinians, Philistines? No! But, they are considered like the Philistines in that they are using Gaza as their terrorist stronghold, and they use gorilla-type terrorist tactics. However, the Palestinians have definite Arab ethnic roots, and themselves claim to be Arabs, making them Shemite in ethnic origin. Arafat claimed to be a Philistine (his tactics,) but he also claimed Arab ethnicity, but was born in Egypt. However, there is an Arab-Canaanite connection through Esau, which the Palestinians now are claiming gives them Land-rights, because the Canaanites did inhabit the Land before Abraham, Isaac, or Jacob arrived. Genesis 26: 24-25 states: And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite: Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah. So, it is true that the Abrahamic ethnic background of Esaus descendants was blurred through Esaus marriage to two Canaanite wives. But, does this intermarriage qualify his descendants to take over Jacobs blessing bestowed upon him by Isaac, which was the passing down of the official inheritance of the Divine Abrahamic Covenant? Does the fact that Esaus children can claim ancestoral connection through Esaus wives who first occupied Canaan, give any qualification for them to inherit the Land? Keep in mind, Esau intermarried with the Hittite wives before Isaac bequeathed the Abrahamic heritage blessing. This was a great grief to his parents. That is why, with Rebekahs help, Jacob tricked Isaac into blessing him, rather than Esau. However, Esau, in the eyes of the L_RD, had already disqualified himself by marrying outside of the Abrahamic Covenant line. So even though deceptive trickery was involved, G_d honoured the blessing bestowed upon Jacob, who up to that juncture was not yet married, and Isaac and Rebekah saw to it that Jacob chose wives from within the appropriate Shemitic Abrahamic line, thus preserving the right of his descendants to inherit the Abrahamic Covenant. Such marriage restrictions remained stringent down through the generations. The Jews were exhorted by the L_RD, through the Mosaic Law, not to intermarry with the nations occupying Canaan, or with the nations surrounding them. They were to wipe-out the Canaanites in the Land; not to intermingle with, or to marry them! Intermarriage with any Canaanite, or other people-group, even if of an Abrahamic line not of the line of Promise, would obviously disqualify their descendants from participating in the blessings of the Abrahamic Covenant. Any time there were Jews who intermarried, the L_RD commanded them to put away their foreign wives and their children, from among them. Only descendants of Abraham, through Isaac and Jacob, were to qualify. After Isaac’s blessing to Jacob, Esau took more wives. Genesis 36:2-3. Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite; And Bashemath Ishmael’s daughter, sister of Nebajoth. He then took all his wives and children and dwelt in Edom. Genesis 36:8. Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau is Edom. So, where should all the descendants of Esau, the twelve tribes of Esau, now call home? Edom is southern Jordan! Anyone stating they are a descendant of one of the sons of Esau should be desiring to live in Jordan, not taking over any portion of the Abrahamic Covenant Lands! It is interesting to note that the majority of the population of Jordan are Palestinian! So, a Palestinian State de facto already exists! Therefore, there is no need for another Palestinian State! The Islamic doctrine behind the Muslim desire to oust the Jews from Israel and form another Palestinian State, driving Israel out, stems from a variant of the understanding of the inheritance for the twelve sons of Esau! The L_RD Himself will take the Muslims to task for this error! So, there are some Palestinians who claim descendancy from Esau. Some from the Philistines. Some from the Canaanites. Some from Ishmael. Who knows who they are for certain? The Palestinians appear to definitely be a mixed group of Arabic people, and some may indeed have these roots. However, none of these inherit the Covenant, regardless! None of the Canaanites received an inheritance blessing from God by Divine Covenant. So, the Palestinians who claim to be descendants of either the Philistines or the Canaanites, are definitely excluding themselves from being pure descendants of Abraham, even if such descendancy could be proven, which now is pretty difficult. The Divine Everlasting Covenant related to the Land of Canaan was promised only to the descendants of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob, not through Ishmael or Esau. Therefore, the Palestinians have no basis upon which to lay claim to any portion of the Land of Canaan. Does this mean there is no inheritance for the Arab descendants of Abraham? Actually, the Arabs of the line of Esau were also given a blessing by Isaac, which requires much land with resources and wealth. Genesis 27:38- 41. And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept. And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above; And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck. And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob. This blessing for Esaus descendants is yet to be totally fulfilled. However, the Land of Canaan is not their inheritance. Esau is not to lay claim to Jacob’s Covenant inheritance. Rather, Esau has his own! And, we must be honest. Not all Arabs are direct descendants of Esau! Some are of Lot, and some of Ishmael. Therefore, it is apparent that not all Arabs are able to lay claim to Isaacs blessing for Esau! And, what of the descendants of Lot? Lot did for a short while have his choice of sojourning in the plain, while Abraham dwelt in the mountains. Where are the mountains Abraham dwelt in? They are what we now call the West Bank area of Judea and Samaria! Lot was driven out because of the abominable sin of the people of the cities of the plain. Lot and his daughters became the progenitors of two branches of Arabs. These Arabs cannot claim direct descendancy from Abraham, although they are shirt-tail relatives. Abraham was not given the freedom to share the Covenant, even with his own nephew! So, what of Ishmael, Abrahams son by Hagar, the bondwoman? Did Ishmael receive a blessing? Yes he did, even though he was the son of a lack of faith! Genesis 17:18-20. And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee! And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year. The Arab nations now occupy multiplied times more land than the Israelis! They have no need to oust Israel from any part of the former Land of Canaan! In fact, God is not pleased with their desire to take over Israel’s Covenant inheritance. The Palestinians, even if they could prove their descendancy, cannot usurp G_d’s Covenant of the Land with Jacob! The Land is not to be possessed by “who was there first.” Those who are descended from Esaus marriage with Canaanite wives, who were first in the Land, can no longer be properly identified, because the Canaanites were to be ousted permanently in compliance with G_d’s decree when the children of Israel entered Canaan. So, even if the Palestinians could prove to actually be descended from the Canaanites, there would still be no contest! No matter how we look at it, the Land of Canaan was given by Everlasting Covenant to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. To believe and act otherwise will only lead to more animostites, wars, and unrest. But this does not need to be! The Palestinians must recognize their jealousy of Jacob is futile! Jacob’s inheritance is tiny! Let him have his inheritance. The Arab occupation includes all the lands surrounding the Land of Canaan, but not Canaan itself. So, is it possible for Peace to be achieved in the Middle East? Only if the Arabs quit squabbling over Canaan, and if they all give-up on Esaus vowed desire to kill Jacob! Will this happen any time soon? Unfortunately, not likely if the Palestinians have their way, and the nations insist on placating Israels avowed enemies! Who has control in the Land of Promise? God does, and He has already proportioned Canaan to the descendants of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob. Esau, Ishmael, and Lot have all the rest of the Middle East, which is geographically much, much larger! The Palestinians need to stop trying to pull Jacobs tiny inheritance out from under him, and, if they have an inkling of any connection to Esau or Ishmael, claim their own blessing! Also, Israel must stop giving-in to the Palestinian demands! Stay in Gaza, Samaria, and all of Judea! These are Israels Covenant Lands! Quit playing games with them! The United States, Britain, Russia, the European Union, the Arab nations, and everyone elso, must back-off before all nations, including Israel, run into loggerheads with the L_RD of the Abrahamic Covenant! All nations helping the Palestinians divide the Land will be taken to task by the L_RD God of Israel, first at the Battle of Gog and Magog, then through the discipline of the Battle of Armageddon. But, it appears from Biblical Prophecy, the Palestinians are going to have to be ousted by Messiah, because of division of the Land of Covenant. Messiah is soon to come in victorious battle array! Does He want to come in battle? He would rather not, but He will if He must! Then, and only then, will there be honest, restful peace secured in the Middle East. Jacob will then dwell securely in all the Land of Covenant, and the descendants of Esau, which will be positively identified by Messiah, will also have the yoke of Jacob removed according to the blessing Isaac bestowed upon Esau. Genesis 27:26-29. And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son. And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed: Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine: Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee. Genesis 28: 1- 5. And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said unto him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan. Arise, go to Padanaram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother’s father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of Laban thy mother’s brother. And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people; And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger, which God gave unto Abraham. And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padanaram unto Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob’s and Esau’s mother. Psalm 105:7-15. O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen. He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth. He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac; And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant: Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance: When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people; He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Whose Land? The Covenant Land belongs to the chosen, anointed Children of Israel! Do not touch them. Do not cause them hardship, fear, or grief — or else! Do their prophets (those speaking the prophetic Word from Scripture) no harm!! Is this my evaluation? NO!! IT IS THE WORD OF THE LORD! The Universe of Chinese Medicine

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

By Eric Cho China has a rich and venerable medical culture; in fact, it was one of the first countries to seriously take up medicine. While Chinese medicine runs a diagonally opposite course from that adopted by Western medicine, their 5,000 plus years of experience has given them immense knowledge in medical science, diagnostic methods, cures and prescriptions. Chinese medicine operates on one basic principle that of Yin and Yang. Chinese medicine believes that the human body is a small universe in itself, with a set of complicated interconnected systems.Yang is the positive force, while Yin is the negative principle that acts on the body. The two forces have to be in harmony with each other and failing will cause diseases to strikes. Yang functions to protect the body from outer harm, while Yin provides the inner base to store energy for bodily functions. Practitioners of Chinese medicine believe that there is a vital energy that flows through various channels in the body. Any blockages in the flow of energy immediately trigger a physical reaction that manifests as disease. In the ancient days, practitioners had limited understanding of infection because traditional Chinese medicine predated the discovery of bacteria, virus and other microorganisms. It is amazing that they were able to successfully treat countless patients without the help of any assistant apparatus. As such, doctors of Chinese medicine needed a training period of years or even decades before they were experienced enough to observe subtle differences and catch vital symptoms. Practitioners based their diagnosis solely on observation, olfaction, interrogation, pulse taking and palpation. Observation means that the doctor would observe the external organs closely. When the internal organs malfunction, corresponding symptoms appear externally as body pain, skin pallor, changes in excrement etc. Palpitation and pulse-taking enables the doctor to juxtapose the pulse of the patient with an inner change. Doctors believe that when all bodily functions are normal, the frequency and beat of the pulse is relative calm, stable and predictable. Traditional Chinese medicine relies heavily on herbs and prescribes potions that utilize the medicinal virtues of thousands of herbs. The potions are prepared in a methodical way and when it is taken according to the prescribed method, it heals - almost magically. While Western medicine is just beginning to wake up to the importance of exercise and healthy diet, the holistic approach of Chinese medicine focuses on healthy living through consistent exercise and wholesome diet. The main difference between Western and traditional Chinese medicine is that while Western medicine aims to divide the physical body into parts, the Chinese model is more concerned with the function of the ENTIRE system. Thus, while mainstream medicine strives to cure the ailments of a single body part, Chinese medicine looks at the entire model as a single entity. Therefore even a swollen toe may lead doctors to a problem in the intestine or kidney. In the West, traditional Chinese medicine is looked upon as alternative medicine. But in mainland China, this treatment is still considered to be an integral part of the health care system. Surprisingly, there is even an effort to integrate Chinese medicine with Western medical practices. Modern treatments that rely on Chinese medicine include acupuncture, acutouch, herbal medicine and food therapy. Chinese medicine has become so popular because it has successfully evolved through the centuries to embrace the winning techniques of the West and integrate that with the holistic and gentle treatment methods of the East. Reach Thousands of Your Prospects, Absolutely Free

By Debbie LaChusa I’m big on getting maximum marketing exposure at the lowest cost possible. After all, most small business owners don’t have huge marketing budgets, so finding inexpensive ways to market is a necessity. Recently I was able to get free marketing exposure for my business to 100,000 people. It was something that took an hour or two of my time and the payoff was huge. And you can do it for your business, too. It’s called Public Relations And it’s simpler than you might think. If you follow a few basic rules, you can get great exposure for your business, product or service without having to pay for it. Here’s all I did. See if this might apply to your business. I sent out a press release announcing the launch of my 10stepmarketing System to two local business publications. While it did not take a lot of time to write and send the release, there were a few key steps I took that you also must take to be successful with your PR efforts. A few key steps First, I found several publications that were targeted to the same type of people I am targeting with 10stepmarketing: small business owners. Once I had identified these publications, I did some research to find out the names of the staff writers who cover marketing. I identified a “hook” to make the story relevant to the publications and I made sure the content of my release provided clear benefits to their readers. I emailed the release with a note saying I would follow up in a day or two to answer any questions. I followed up with a phone call, speaking directly to one writer and leaving a voice message for the other. A few days later, I received a phone call from the writer I had left the message for, and spent 20 minutes on the phone answering her questions and helping her understand more clearly how my system could help her readers. I even arranged for her to receive a copy of my product for review. About a week later, both stories hit. One publication ran my press release verbatim and the other covered all the content in my release and added quotes and information from her phone interview with me. PR isn’t hard when you follow these 6 basic rules: (1) Identify news outlets that reach YOUR target audience (2) Send news that is important to, and includes a clear BENEFIT for the publication’s audience (3) Send your release to the APPROPRIATE writer or editor (4) Include a “HOOK” or something that makes it more interesting or relevant to the publication and their audience (in my case, since the writers covered the local advertising community, I led with the fact that I am a local ad agency veteran) (5) Follow up with a phone call (6) Make yourself available to do an interview, answer questions or provide additional information While I didn’t expect a whole lot to happen as a result of this release being published (my objective was simply to announce the launch of my business and to pave the way for future news. I know it usually takes multiple message exposures to generate significant results), the short-term results were amazing. Not only did it generate sales, I also received an invitation to speak as a result of the stories. What news could you share about your business? What news outlets reach your prospects? Consider newspapers, magazines, radio and TV stations, websites, and any other form of media you can think of. What “hook” could you use? I challenge you to consider how you could use PR to market your business. It really is easier than you think and the results can be amazing! Passover Gifts - The Toy Which Helped Jews Read The Torah Freely

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

By Dale Pindling Today you are a Jew under Greek captivity. You are a Godly man and you enjoy reading your Torah , but you cannot read it in peace because where you live there is a law against reading the Torah . To escape the punishment of being caught reading the Torah, you and some friends decide to go into to the woods where no Greeks will be able to view you. Your group is smart, so you set up watchmen to survey the area so that you know when Greek law enforcement are aproaching your reading station. After reading a couple of texts, you notice one of the watchmen running and screaming at the group telling you to put away the Torah scrolls. You put away the Torah scrolls , and then you take out a Dreidel. You take out a Dreidel, this small four sided toy that spins. It is this four sided toy that saves you from punishment when the Greek law enforcement arrives. Made to give off a false impression, this little toy was created to fool the Greeks into thinking the Jews were playing games instead of reading their Torah scrolls. A Dreidel always has four sides and can come in many different styles and designs. Every side of the Dreidel has one Hebrew letter marked on top of it. These letters are : These letters are :Nunn, Gimel, Heh and Shin. The four Hebrew letters stand for four Hebrew words which in an english translation mean: ” a miracle happened there”. Venture Capital Investors

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

By Damian Sofsian While evaluating the profitability of venture capital investment proposals under the capital budgeting techniques such as Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of return are used. It should be noted here that these sophisticated methods use the cost of capital as the criterion to accept or reject an investment proposal. Under the NPV method, the cost of capital is used to discount the future cash flows, whereas under the Internal Rate of return method, the cost of capital is compared with the calculated Internal rate of return in order to determine the efficacy of the capital investment proposals. The minimum required rate of return that a firm must earn on its investments in order to keep the present wealth of the shareholders unchanged or keep the market value of the firms equity shares is referred to as cost of capital. In the context of evaluating the investment projects, cost of capital refers to the discount rate used for evaluating the desirability of the investment proposals. Cost of capital plays a crucial role in the sphere of capital budgeting decisions. It serves as an important basis for financial appraisal of new capital investment proposals. For instance, the cost of capital is compared with the discounted rate of return to determine whether the proposed project satisfies one of the minimum acceptable standards. The expected rate of returns on a project must be greater than the cost of capital. If the cost of capital of a firm is known, it is possible to make a fair estimation of the amount of risks that is involved in the companys investment projects. For instance, if a firm were required to pay more than the market rate of interest in order to procure funds from the investors, this would show investors that the earnings rate of the firm is moderate or less and that the firm has limited opportunities to develop in future. Digital Signage: Hybrid, Interactive Systems Amplify Marketing Impact

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

By David Little A new trend in digital signage is emerging that combines the strength of digital signs with the interactivity of digital kiosks. For many areas, such as retail shops, the sum of the two holds greater potential for marketers than either of the individual parts. Known in some circles as hybrid digital signs and by others as interactive digital signage, these combo systems can capture the attention of those nearby by playing back compelling linear content -for example an enticing commercial or news feed- and immediately switching to an interactive mode when triggered by an external input, such as the touch of a viewer, the mere presence of a passerby or even environmental conditions. Like a standalone digital sign, a hybrid system allows communicators to playback a pre-built sequence of elements, including video files, graphics, text, animation and live television. Those staples of digital signage are the makings of an effective message that entices interaction with the very flat panel on which the content plays. Once viewers touch the panel or step within its proximity, the hybrid sign automatically interrupts linear content playback and displays a digital kiosk-like interface that lets a shopper touch hot spots on the screen, launching a pre-built interactive branching presentation. Navigating through the presentation, shoppers can find the information they want like product recommendations, pricing and availability. Depending upon the level of sophistication needed, such hybrid interactive presentations can link to company’s servers, pulling information needed for the presentation and collecting information about the consumer that can be stored on the server. For instance, a hybrid system at an automotive retailer could send an inquiry to the store’s server to access a database of recommended filters and oil viscosity specified by each car manufacturer. Matching information the customer entered about his car with the recommendations in the database, the system could check inventory for the right products, retrieve availability and pricing and present the information to the shopper standing at the hybrid sign. Prior to offering that information, the system could ask the shopper to enter his name and address and to grant permission to be notified of future specials. With that data saved on the server, the retailer’s marketing department can automatically send out coupons for oil and filters when next estimated time for an oil change rolls around. What enticed the shopper to touch the screen in the first place? Perhaps it was a video playing back in linear digital signage mode of a favorite racecar driver discussing why it’s important to stay current on oil changes. On the front end of customer interaction, the hybrid system cast a wide net, cycling through a playlist of content designed to sell oil, followed by tires, then batteries, air filters -the list goes on an on. Each linear segment is backed up by an interactive kiosk component that’s triggered when a shopper’s curiosity is piqued by one of these linear presentations and touches the screen. On the back end, the system uses data that’s collected to stay in touch with shoppers once they leave the store, offering special incentives to have them return. In essence, hybrid digital signage can help to extend the marketing reach of a retailer well beyond arm’s length from the display panel and into the homes of shoppers who are willing to interact. Interactivity doesn’t haven’t to begin with a human touch either. Imagine a hybrid digital signage system in a ski shop at the base of mountain. Skiers donning their boots and gloves might see a digital sign in passing as it plays back linear content; however, their attention might be focused when temperature, wind and solar sensors at the top of the mountain report conditions and trigger specific presentations. Lots of sun could call up reminders about needing sun screen. Heavy snow might trigger another presentation that makes them think twice about leaving the store before having the right gloves or goggles. The possibilities for interactive, hybrid digital signage are only as limited as the imagination of creative marketers. To be sure, this aspect of the digital signage market is in its infancy. However, with the recent availability of the hardware and software needed to bring together the separate worlds of kiosks and digital signage, hybrid systems will certainly play an important roll in the unfolding digital signage market. I Was Asked if I Had Any Stepping Stone Molds

Friday, January 25th, 2008

By Delmar Germyn I had to say no. Nothing like losing a sale! I don’t sell them because of postal costs. Molds don’t weigh much but are big when you get to step stone size. The Post Office and everyone else use a system called “volumetric pricing”. This means if you send a big light box, it will be charged as if it weighed X lbs. X is an average for what a box that size would hold. So your 13 oz. or so mold is charged as if it weighed 5 pounds.I can’t ask anyone to pay that much so I just don’t sell large molds. It is enough that the box for the molds I do sell is much heavier than the contents. I send hundreds of pounds of cardboard all over the country. And a few pounds of plastic! Now for your free stepping stone. Get yourself a plastic garbage can. The bottom of the can should be the size you want your stepping stone to be. I guess you have figured it out now! Anyway cut the can off about 5 inches up from the bottom, and there is your mold. You can play around with maybe putting a couple of leaves in the mold before you pour your concrete. They will wash out with your garden hose and you will have an attractive pattern left behind. You could also try a couple of kids plastic lizards or worms. They will pull out easily when your stone is cured. Be sure you use a release agent before pouring. (10w engine oil works for me) Try pouring two colors of concrete. Mix your plain, uncolored concrete and set it aside. Then mix some colored concrete. Pour the color then the plain. Maybe a small stir with a stick after both are in the mold. Don’t get carried away. You just want to create a couple of swirls, not blend the colors into one unrecognizable blob of mush.Take a look around, you will see all kinds of things you could try in your mold. You will also start to see lots of things that could be molds.Happy pouring! Beware the Dreaded Theet O Vac! Our technology takes the best aspects of J2EE and Theet O Meter Perl. Fitness Scams

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

By Tracie Johanson Caveat emptor is Latin for “let the buyer beware”. Nowhere is this phrase more applicable than in the weight loss industry of today. It seems that every time we turn around we are blasted and bombarded with the latest, greatest, new and improved treatment for obesity. From miracle pills to the latest fad diet, the gimmicks just keep coming. The sad truth is that few of these products work. Even fewer will result in real, permanent and lasting fat loss. A very few of the weight loss gimmicks on the market today are not only a consumer rip-off, but they are also quite dangerous…..even deadly. Caveat emptor indeed! -> A PRIME SUSPECT? As an example, consider the prescription diet drug Meridia. Does it help you lose weight? For some people, the answer is yes. For others, the answer is no. Can it kill you? The answer to this question seems to be a nervous ‘maybe’. “The consumer group Public Citizen had petitioned the Food and Drug Administration for a ban, citing Meridia users who died of heart problems as young as their 20s and 30s. Even before Meridia was approved for sale, the FDA knew it could increase users’ blood pressure, the group contended.” (Source: www.cnn.com) Recently the FDA again refused to ban Meridia, even though whistleblower David Graham (an FDA drug safety officer) testified to Congress last fall that his agency was allowing five unsafe medicines to stay on the market, including Meridia. -> ANOTHER PRIME SUSPECT? Ephedra was banned in the United States last year, in part due to numerous deaths attributed to this popular weight loss supplement. On April 14, a federal Judge in Utah reversed the short-lived ban on ephedra. Within minutes, spammers were filling our email boxes with messages to BUY BUY BUY before ephedra was banned again. One of these spammers, on their website, states that “Finally, the forbidden fat-burning herb banned for being ‘too effective’ Ephedra is available to the public again”. We’re not going to quote the source on this one because we don’t want to give this guy any free publicity. Yes, ephedra will help some people lose weight. Yes, ephedra is safe for some people in low doses. But there is that little nagging fact that people have DIED and that their deaths have been attributed to ephedra use….. -> MORE EXAMPLES “The Advertising Standards Authority in Great Britian has ordered L’Oreal to pull ads for an anti-cellulite cream. The board found that claims as to the effects and timeliness of the skin treatment were misleading and could not be backed up by any research. The ads featured Claudia Schiffer and L’Oreal has agreed to make changes to the advertisements.” (Source: www.adjab.com) For whatever reason, some people have decided that anabolic steroids are the best way to lose weight. Despite the well-documented and serious side-effects of steroid use, the lure of easy weight loss has caused many to throw caution to the wind. Perhaps the most concerning trend is steroid use among our teenage population: “Teens also listed steroids, growth hormone, amino acids and other potentially unhealthful products among those they’d tried in the previous year.” (Source: www.cnn.com) -> THE SAFE AND EFFECTIVE ALTERNATIVE Caveat emptor (let the buyer beware) is indeed the rule when it comes to many weight loss gimmicks. However, there is one weight loss method that has never been banned, has never led to an investigation, and has never been been listed on a ‘whistleblower’ fraud report: EXERCISE. Exercise is the only path to health and fitness that virtually every doctor in the world agrees upon. Exercise is safe, effective, and brings many more benefits to our lives than diets or drugs ever will. Exercise is fun, invigorating, motivating and the single most powerful way to improve our life and well-being! Instead of looking for another short-cut to weight loss success, choose the proven method that gets results. Choose exercise. * Copyright 2005 Pick Up The Pace. Job Performance: A Lost Lesson

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

By Bonnie Lowe Im a fan of the hit TV show “Lost.” In case youre not familiar with it (can you believe some folks dont watch TV?), its about a bunch of plane crash survivors living on an island full of mysteries. I always find it to be entertaining. But a recent episode was also (probably unintentionally) educational. In that episode, a character named Hurley was assigned the task of controlling a newly found stash of food. Although its obvious from his size that Hurley loves to eat, he wasnt thrilled about being in charge of the food. Why? Because everyone liked Hurley, and that was very important to him. “Everythings going to change,” he lamented. He knew his fellow survivors would want the food, and theyd be mad at him when he did his “job” and kept it from them. The thought of losing their friendship stressed him out so much that he planned to destroy all the food rather than perform the difficult job hed been assigned! Like Hurley, many of us hesitate to tell our boss when we are feeling overwhelmed by a task weve been given. Bosses just don’t want to hear it, right? Well, it depends. In many situations, your boss may be so busy that he cant keep track of the work you’re doing or the problems you may be experiencing. Unless you speak up and tell your boss that youre having difficulty with an assignment, he’ll assume everything is fine. While the boss is unaware of your dilemma, youll struggle on your own to find a way to get the job done, becoming more frustrated and stressed about the assignment. It may even affect your mood and judgment so much that youll make a big mistake. If this happens, your boss will not appreciate hearing, “But I couldnt handle it; I was overwhelmed!” Saying that after the fact will be much worse than telling your boss up frontbefore mistakes occurthat you’re having trouble with your assignment. If youre tasked to do something a certain way, and you feel theres a better alternative, speak up! Hurley eventually came to his senses and did this. He went to his “boss” and suggested doing something completely different from the task hed been assigned. To his amazement, the response was “Sure, go ahead.” Rather than controlling access, Hurley gave everyone food, they all remained friends, and the episode had a relatively happy ending. Of course, real life doesnt always work like that. Sometimes youll just have to deal with a difficult job (or difficult boss) the best you can, with no way around it. But instead of assuming thats the case, find out. Do what Hurley did. Talk to your boss about it. Explain potential problems, and propose alternative courses of action. Who knows? Maybe all is not “Lost!” Bonnie Lowe is author of the popular Job Interview Success System and free information-packed ezine, “Career-Life Times.” Find those and other powerful career-building resources and tips at her website: http://www.Best-Interview-Strategies.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Bonnie_Lowe http://EzineArticles.com/?Job-Performance:–A-Lost-Lesson&id=84265 pharmacy india viagra cialis generic purchase viagra viagra for cheap buy online pharmacy viagra

The Top 10 Clues You’re Dating a Married Man

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

By Susan Dunn Make no mistake, married men who are fooling around can be wonderfully attentive and romantic. He can be emailing you and calling you on his cell all day long, filling your hungry heart with affirmations you never dreamed of, showering you with gifts, and making rapturous love to you. It can be the stuff of which fantasies are made and heres why: to him it IS a fantasy. So how can you tell you’re having an affair with a married man? 1. Youre suspicious. If you generically suspect every man you meet of this, its a prejudice and not worth much. However, if you suddenly get suspicious about the individual man youre dealing with, then trust your instincts. Where theres smoke theres fire. 2. His tone of voice gets guarded or he wont make eye contact and is evasive when certain topics come up like family, children, vacations, where he lives, etc. 3. He insists that all contact be on his terms only. He gives some reason why you must only call him at work or on his cell. You ask for his home phone number and he refuses to give it to you. Disregard the reason. They can be ingenious about this and if youre love-daffy, youll find a way to rationalize his particular excuse. Dont. 4. It’s the best sex you’ve ever had. Nothing stokes a man’s fire like forbidden love unless it’s forbidden love with no threat of the “c” word. 5. His hearts not on the line. You sense an imbalance of vulnerability. When two available people are dating, both are anxious for it to work out, and equally at-risk. When youre playing for keeps and hes just playing, he wont care as much about how youre getting along. He has the security of the marriage and nothing to lose but an exciting good time. 6. Theres a white line on the fourth finger of his left hand, a tan-line from where his wedding ring usually is, and is not when hes with you. Or theres the outline of a ring in his shirt pocket. 7. He isnt fully disclosing when it would seem appropriate. He alludes to things hell tell you about later. 8. He has odd reasons for not wanting to go to certain places (like your favorite restaurant). You first met at a dance hall (where hes known and someone might tell his wife) and after that every place he takes you to is in another county. (There’s a part of town he definitely avoids. Guess why?)9. He pays for restaurants, motels, resorts, and airplane tickets in cash rather than by credit card. 10. He is never available on Sundays. In some cultures, and with many men, Saturday night may be Boys Night Out, but Sunday is strictly family time. Ditto for holidays. This is part of that peculiar male honor code: OK to cheat. But not on Thanksgiving Day. That’s family time. Susan Dunn, MA, EQ coaching, http://www.susandunn.cc , mailto:sdunn@susandunn.cc .
